This month has just seemed to fly by! It feels like just yesterday that I was posting about Joey's half birthday. But today marks seven months for little Joey Bear! His personality is really starting to shine through and he is continuing to reach his milestones at a good pace. We can't take this kid anywhere anymore without someone telling us how adorable he is and commenting on his blue eyes!
This coming month brings Joey's first Halloween, a pediatrician appointment to get him all caught up on his shots, and soon his first second cousin on the Sbicca side will be here for him to play with! Well... maybe it will be a little while before he will be able to play with her...
But first, this month's updates:
Health and Medical Update
Since our last update, Joey has had one pediatrician appointment. He weighed in in the 60th percentile and he remains to be a tall, tall kid in the 97th percentile for height. He still loves to play with the paper on the exam table and peeing while being weighed. With the exception of shot time, he loves being at the doctor's office.
Along with Joey, Jamie and I continue to be happy with our choice in pediatrician. He is not too "by the book" and I think he is a good mix of old school and new school. He is always up to date on his "homework", which is what we call Joey's cardiology updates from CHLA, and he truly cares about Joey. He joked that he was going to retire and become Joey's agent!
Joey doesn't have another appointment with the doctor until December, but will have some nurse appointments in October and November for shots.
Firsts and Milestones
We officially have a sitter! Joey now can sit and play with his toys for a few minutes at a time. He sometimes get tired and just slowly folds over, but he is also getting much better at falling over now. He still isn't the strongest sitter in his high chair and always ends up leaned over to one side, but he can sit up enough to eat his food!
He still has not gotten the hang of crawling, but he really, really wants to! He can lift his butt up in the air and push his chest up really high with his arms, but he can't do them both at the same time.
Last Sunday, Jamie and I woke up at about 6am to Joey babbling in his crib, "baba baba". Which officially makes that his first word! He continues to say it when he wakes up and chats with himself in his crib each morning. Jamie and I are each equally trying to coax the first "mama" or "dada". What do you think it will be?
We were lucky enough to get some hand-me-down toys from my cousin, when Joey was born and he is finally big enough to really enjoy them! He loves his activity saucer with the fishy toys on it. He got the hang of it really quick and can now turn all the way around and stands up all the way in it! At the rate that this boy's legs are getting strong, he might be standing before he crawls. He stands up so well and with such flat feet too!
Joey still loves the music and videos on YouTube and now Jamie and I have all of the words memorized too. They must think that I am crazy at work, because I always have baby songs stuck in my head and get caught singing things like "Hop, pop, stop, at the party. Hop, pop, stop, everybody!" Joey also loves when his mama dances to his songs, he smiles and laughs.
Daddy is the best at flying Joey around like an airplane. Joey loves flying around the house and sitting on Daddy's head like a hat!

Likes and Dislikes
This month we added squash, apples, pears, zucchini, and banana to his list of foods and he likes them all! Since he now had a longer list of foods to choose from, I enjoy making different combinations. We will continue to add new foods every few days, and we will see just how much of a foodie Joey is!

Family Update
Not much is new with us! We are just enjoying being Joey's parents more and more each day! We wish we could spend all day, every day with him. We can't wait for Joey's first holiday season, and it feels like before we know it, we will be planning his 1st birthday!
